Max Payne 1 ~ Windows Vista Easy Sound fix

MP1 vista fix

For some odd reason, when trying to play Max Payne on Windows Vista, you won’t get any music.
There are a couple of fixes out there, but all of them are a pain in the ass to follow, having to unpack the game, encode the musics, and pack it again.

With this fix, you’ll only have to run a .BAT file, and wait 2 minutes! :)

This works with Steam version and retail.

Download here!

Enjoy this ever lasting classic!

for those with the “ras file not found” error msg: If the sound fix is a folder in the maxpayne directory, you will get the error. instead move all the soundfix files out of the folder and directly into c:maxpayne directory. hope that helped :)

I got the same problem as a few of the other posts regarding:
“Exception in engineInit: X_SharedDB: Weapons “empty” and “empty” had same ID”
I didn’t see any posts with a solution
Can you help?

Comment on April 11th, 2010.

No mate, I’m sorry! :(

Search the web for another fix, there’s a few around AFAIK.

Should go without saying, but read the read-me carefully as well.

One other thing i noticed is that the initial introductory video sequence runs with no problem, but quits with the
“empty/empty” problem when going into the game screen

Anyone having trouble, when you download the Windows Vista Fix, make sure all the stuff is in the game directory (.Bat, RASmaker, rl.dlll, etc.) The directory should be at C:Program Files/Max Payne. Look up game directory if you didn’t know what that was, like I did.
